The Men's Initiative for Jane Doe Inc. (MIJD) is a collaboration of men's outreach projects throughout the state of Massachusetts organizing support from men in their communities for Jane Doe Inc. statewide and its member organizations locally.
Purposes:
- To encourage men and boys to speak up in ending sexual assault, domestic abuse and oppression
- To connect and support male leaders of all ages and backgrounds with projects to end violence and oppression
- To build men's partnership with women in the work to end violence against women, men and children.

Dads & Daughters launch a new website aiming to strengthen father-daughter relationships. The dads and daughters website is a very active website that honors the father-daughter relationship. By providing parenting resources that are helpful to many families to restore their relationships or grow stronger relationships.

18th annual male survivor weekend at Kirkridge

Kirkridge Conference and Retreat Center, of Bangor PA, is to host the 18th annual weekend workshop for non-offending adult male survivors of sexual abuse, rape, physical violence, emotional abuse, and/or neglect. This event is for men who are actively engaged in recovery work; note that this workshop is not a substitute for therapy.

No Means No: "Grey Rape" and the Fear of Women's Sexuality

Kim Rice and Ross Wantland - In the September 2007 issue of Cosmopolitan, an article claimed that a "new kind of date rape" had been uncovered: grey rape. So-called "grey rape" referred to an ambiguous sexual experience for both partners, that could technically be called rape, but for which women who were raped shared some of the responsibility. In the survivors’ accounts, many of them knew the perpetrator, had been drinking, and had shared some initial sexual intimacy with the perpetrator. Also, each of them said, “No” (which was ignored by their partner).

Debate on House Ways and Means Budget Begun - Ask Your State Representative and Chairman DeLeo to support amendments to increase funding for sexual assault and domestic violence services.

Supply Drives by Men Planned for April 26th

There will be four Supply Drives happening in the Boston area on April 26th. These supply drives are taking place in cooperation with domestic violence programs and gathering supplies needed by survivors. Store customers are invited to purchase extra items to leave in donation boxes. Each drive location generally gathers 30 to 40 boxes of supplies, cash and gift cards to send to programs.

A friend confides over lunch that her colleague's flirtatious remarks and sexual advances have become a part-time job at her full-time position; a worried mother calls her local rape crisis center to seek advice for her son who is being continuously harassed by his co-worker about his sexual orientation; a young teacher has a paralyzing fear of meetings with a student’s father, because he always uses sexual innuendos and does not respect her physical boundaries...The might be scenarios from daily life that you friends, your colleagues, your relatives, your parents, and your children are all too familiar with. Sexual harassment at our workplace has become a nationwide problem.

The Men's Resource Center for Change seeks an inspired and strategic executive director who will oversee programs, expand funding sources, develop innovative collaborations, and articulate our message of supporting men, challenging violence, and redefining masculinity. The executive director will strengthen the efforts of a skilled and dedicated team already engaged in this work-staff, board and volunteers. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the executive director will oversee programs, operations and fiscal management, which includes development and management of grants and fundraising. Our administrative office is located in downtown Amherst, MA, with programs operating in four Western Massachusetts counties.

250 Men join Masschusetts White Ribbon Day – A Grand Success

We held Massachusetts White Ribbon Day on February 14th. 350-400 people attended a state house Governors Proclamation event and we have counted dozens of related community activities taking place across the commonwealth. These activities range from Middle and High School Assemblies, Town Proclamations to Signing Events at Businesses, Hospitals, Colleges and Churches. Full report will be forthcoming.
